To provide a civilian framework through which trained emergency and military personnel extend their service to society; to assist our neighbors in times of disaster and our own in times of hardship; to respond independently, efficiently and strategically, achieving the greatest impact possible.
Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) accomplishes our Mission in two ways.
1) Continued Service Opportunities
Whether deploying on a disaster response mission or participating in other Continued Service Opportunities, our Members say that giving back to others leaves them with a deeply gratified feeling. For Members, working alongside peers who understand what they have been through promotes camaraderie, feelings of empowerment and a renewed sense of purpose.
Members and Volunteers deployed on disaster response missions use their training and skills, and provide immediate “impact assistance” through tree and debris removal, muck-out operations, covering roofs & windows, distributing food & water, and other meaningful tasks.Helping Others is a Way of Life
2) Outdoor Adventures
Throughout the year, we host challenging events in which our Membership can participate. Past adventures have included obstacle races, skydiving, whitewater rafting, big game & bird hunts, ruck marches, and scuba diving.
These adventures give our Membership – and sponsored Sheep Dogs who have been injured in combat or the line of duty – opportunities to reengage in life. Participants have a new focus, revitalized self-confidence, and are reminded that they can continue making a difference in their communities and their country.
