1st Annual Sheep Dog Christmas Outreach
Following our successful Thanksgiving Basket Drive, we are busy identifying and adopting Sheep Dog families in need for Christmas. The focus for Thanksgiving was to provide each adopted Sheep Dog family a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. For Christmas, our focus is the children. We may provide some basic Holiday food items for each family, but our first objective is to ensure that the children in each family have a wonderful Christmas. So far we have identified 8 Sheep Dog families with children that need assistance this year. Our objective is to adopt 15 families. In the coming days, via our facebook page, we will list the age and sex of the children from each family, along with their needs, i.e. preferred toys, clothing sizes, etc… You can contact us through our website, facebook or twitter if you are interested in adopting a child or family this Christmas. 1st Annual Sheep Dog Thanksgiving Basket Drive
Our 1st Annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive was a success! As always, you find yourself wishing you could do more to help, but we’re sure the twelve Sheep Dog families we were able to assist this Thanksgiving appreciated everything we did. We were able to provide each family with a turkey, ham, pies, vegetables, fruit, etc… for their Thanksgiving Day meal. For a couple of our adopted Sheep Dog families we were also able to provide formula for the babies, and also a few clothes for the young children. At a minimum we would like to adopt twice the number of families next year. Keep us in mind next Thanksgiving if you are interested in adopting a Sheep Dog family in need. $50 will pay for a family of 4 to 6 to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings, or you can provide specific items needed to fill the baskets.

The 2010 Turkey Trot was a Great Success!
This years Turkey Trot was a great success! The weather was a little nasty, but we had a good showing considering. We cannot say Thank You enough to everyone that participated in the run. And a special Thank You goes to our sponsors & volunteers, we could not have made this event happen without the people who were willing to get up early on Thanksgiving Day morning and stand in the cold wind and rain. We are already making plans for next years run, so start training now, and start encouraging your friends and family to join you for next years Turkey Trot. Adopt A Sheep Dog Family in Need
Our Sheep Dog Holiday Program is in full swing! We are sponsoring and assisting 10 Sheep Dog families for Thanksgiving & an additional 10 families for Christmas. If you are interested in sponsoring or adopting a Sheep Dog family this Holiday Season please let us know. To call attention to those who will never be able to run again. One year ago, Marine Sgt. Jeremy Soles founded Team X-T.R.E.M.E. (Train, Rehabilitate, Empower, Motivate, Endure), a non-profit organization that raises awareness for wounded veterans. The group, which consists of five runners and five volunteer board members, attempts rigorous physical challenges to bring attention to the struggles of disabled service members. Ret. Marine Risks Life to Save Fallen Man on Train Tracks
WTOP.com October 21, 2010 ARLINGTON, Va. – Metro has released a video of a man who jumped onto the tracks to save a complete stranger in August. The video shows a man who has a medical emergency falling onto the tracks at the Virginia Square-GMU station. As people on both sides of the tracks are seen waving to get the attention of Metro workers, the good Samaritan — retired Marine Lt. Col. Dimas Pinzon — is on the opposite tracks. He could hear somebody yelling, “Get off the tracks. Get off the tracks.” Pinzon, 57, says he saw an oncoming train slowing down.
