FDNY firefighter promoted to Marine Corps Major in firehouse

NEW YORK — When FDNY Firefighter Jason Brezler was to be promoted to Major in the Marine Corps Reserves, he was told he could choose where the ceremony would take place. He said he immediately knew where he wanted it, but it wasn’t the Iwo Jima Memorial, his unit in Washington D.C. or even where he was stationed in Afghanistan. He chose his firehouse, Engine 45 and Ladder 58 in the Bronx. “Why do this [ceremony] in a garage in the Bronx?” Firefighter Brezler said following the June 18 ceremony. “I’m proud to be part of two of the greatest organizations in this country – the FDNY and the USMC. Some of my best friends are here. For me, it made perfect sense.” Dozens of family and friends attended the ceremony, where Firefighter Walter Powers, who also works at Ladder 58 and is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps, officiated. “I’ve been in the Marine Corps for 22 years, and I can...

Lance Returns, Sheep Dog Expands

As the members of any new organization will tell you, having the Founder and CEO out-of-pocket for several days puts a strain on day-to-day business activities. Having the Founder and CEO deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom gives “out-of-pocket” a whole new meaning. As of June 4th Lance and his Marines & Sailors ended a 13 month deployment that began May 1st of 2009. Saying that we are happy to have Lance home is an understatement! We are extremely proud of the sacrifices made by all our brave men and women serving around the world, especially our men and women serving on the front lines of the war on terror. Please keep in mind these sacrifices, just like the men and women serving on the home front in Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services, societies Sheepdog’s are continuously on call and making the ultimate sacrifice. In Lance’s absence Sheep Dog IA has continued moving...

US & Iraqi Sheepdogs Working Together

Marines and Iraqi soldiers spread cheer to students in Al Anbar 3/5/2010 By Cpl. Triah Pendracki, Multi National Force – West Americans are known to have a surplus of many things, which often go to waste or are forgotten about when the next “big thing” comes on the market. To combat some of that regular behavior, Marines from 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, Task Force Military Police, aboard Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, decided to enlist the help of the Iraqi army to disperse many of their little extras to the children of Iraq’s Al Anbar province. “Since we’ve been out here, we have acquired extra supplies from care packages and other sources,” explained 1st Sgt. R. Lance Nutt, the first sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Bn., 24th Marines, and project organizer. “We made contact with the 7th Iraqi Army Division through the Military Transition Team on Al Asad and started planning distribution.” What started as an idea for a...

Assisting Sheepdogs in Iraq

[vc_column_text width="2/3" el_position="first"] Having the founder deployed to Iraq poses different challenges, but it also opens the door to opportunity, and the chance to assist in new and exciting ways. For example, while stationed at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, Lance discovered a Fire Station staffed by US Fire Fighters and EMT/EMS personnel on base. These are fire & rescue members from fire houses all over the States, from New Jersey to Alabama and all points in-between. [/vc_column_text] [vc_column_text width="1/3" el_position="last"]

[/vc_column_text] [vc_column_text width="1/3" el_position="first"]

[/vc_column_text] [vc_column_text width="2/3" el_position="last"] Most Americans appreciate the sacrifices made by the men and women of the Armed Services deployed overseas, but very few know about the men and women working hard to protect those that defend freedom! Having civilian fire & rescue members stationed at Al Asad Air Base enables the soldiers, sailors, airmen & Marines stationed there to focus on their missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. [/vc_column_text] [vc_column_text width="2/3" el_position="first"] The teamwork displayed by these fellow Sheepdogs is...
