Volunteers with Sheep Dog Impact Assistance headed to Texas with emergency supplies to aid July 4 flood victims.

ROGERS, Ark. — Volunteers with Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) loaded up emergency supplies Sunday and headed to central Texas to help victims of the July 4 floods

The Rogers-based nonprofit deployed four vehicles and three trailers full of water, canned goods, pet food, and outdoor items. The team is traveling to Liberty Hill, Texas, where communities are just beginning the recovery process.

Raffy Morales, an SDIA first responder and manager at Sheep Dog Heroes Ranch, said the group received an outpouring of donations almost immediately.

“All we got to do is send out a message and the community responds,” Morales said.

In total, 95 volunteers are involved in this deployment, and the group plans to coordinate with even more volunteers upon arrival. While the supplies will meet basic needs, Morales said the team hopes to offer something deeper as well.

“When something like this happens, it’s the heart, it’s that mission, the drive, that we want to go and help,” he said. “If we’re bringing anything, it’s hope to everybody that’s been affected.”

The floods on July 4 left widespread devastation across the Lone Star State, washing out roads, destroying homes, and displacing hundreds of families. Crews are still working to locate the more than 170 people who are still missing and remove debris from impacted areas. However, heavy rainfall suspended search efforts on Sunday. It was the first time a new round of severe weather paused search efforts since July 4.

Morales said helping others in crisis is central to SDIA’s mission, and that their team is always ready to respond.

“Anytime that there’s a natural disaster — regardless of where it is — we’re going to go,” he said.
