There is no better way to spend Thanksgiving week than packing out meals for Sheep Dog families in need. SDIA was able to provide more than 60 military and first responder families with a Turkey and all the trimmings for Thanksgiving, feeding more than 250 Sheep Dogs and their family members.
We cannot say Thank You enough to our supporters and volunteers for making this years outreach better than ever. The ability to feed and assist fellow Sheep Dogs and their families in need during Thanksgiving is critical to mission accomplishment.
Most of the families we helped this year are struggling to make ends meet during the holidays, others dealing with family challenges that make this time of year all the more difficult. We take great pride in our ability to assist our own during trying times, and look forward to doing even more in the future, especially as we approach Christmas.

2013 Turkey Trot and Wild Gobbler
Our 2013 Annual NWA Turkey Trot and Wild Gobbler was one for the ages! The race, benefiting Sheep Dog Impact Assistance and the Springdale Police Department, was a great success based on the fact that it was our first time merging out two races, and that the weather was below freezing! We were hoping for 500 plus participants, and ended up with more than 700 runners, walkers and Wild Gobblers.
This years Turkey Trot followed a very successful Thanksgiving Program that provided Thanksgiving meals to Sheep Dog families in need … military, law enforcement, fire & rescue and EMS personnel struggling through the holidays. We fed more than 250 Sheep Dogs and their family members.
The Turkey Trot itself is a major fundraiser for our Christmas Outreach Program where we adopt Sheep Dog families, with children, for Christmas, providing each child with 3 toys from their Christmas wish list, clothes, shoes, etc… Doing our best to take the pressure off the parents and provide the children with a wonderful Christmas. This years Turkey Trot raised more than $5,000.00 for our Christmas program, ensuring that we were able to meet and exceed our goals for this years outreach.
We would like to thank all of our race participants, volunteers, and sponsors for helping us make this years run great success! We could not accomplish our mission of assisting fellow Sheep Dogs in need without YOU! Thank you!
