Sheep Dog University Welcomes the FY26 Q3 Graduating Class
Every great mission begins with people who are willing to answer the call.
This month, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance proudly welcomed the newest graduates of Sheep Dog University (SDU), celebrating a group of dedicated individuals who have taken the next step in becoming ambassadors for a mission that has transformed lives across the nation.
Held at Heroes Ranch in Jane, Missouri, the FY26 Q3 session brought together volunteers, staff, and future leaders from across the country to learn, connect, and discover what it truly means to serve those who serve others.
More than an orientation, Sheep Dog University is where purpose meets community.
What Is Sheep Dog University?
Sheep Dog University is the official onboarding and leadership development experience for members of the Sheep Dog Impact Assistance family.
Designed to immerse participants in SDIA’s culture, mission, and programs, SDU provides a behind-the-scenes look at how every department works together to support military members, veterans, first responders, and their families.
Throughout the week, participants don’t simply learn about the organization. They experience it firsthand.
By interacting with program directors, volunteers, and fellow Sheep Dogs, graduates gain a deeper appreciation for how collaboration and service strengthen communities across the country.
Learning Through Experience at Heroes Ranch
At the heart of Sheep Dog University is experiential learning.
While classroom sessions provide insight into SDIA’s programs and operations, much of the week’s growth comes through shared experiences.
During the FY26 Q3 session, participants enjoyed activities including:
- Equine Connection experiences that demonstrated the power of trust, communication, and emotional awareness.
- Mountain biking adventures that encouraged teamwork, resilience, and confidence.
- Interactive presentations from SDIA leadership about the organization’s mission and future.
- Meaningful conversations that helped participants understand how Outdoor Adventures, Warrior PATHH, Continued Service, Disaster Response Missions, and Sheep Dog University all work together to create lasting impact.
These experiences help graduates understand that every role within Sheep Dog Impact Assistance contributes to changing lives.
Building Relationships That Last Beyond Graduation
One of the greatest outcomes of Sheep Dog University isn’t found in a classroom.
It’s found around the dinner table.
It’s found during conversations after an activity.
It’s found in the friendships that continue long after participants return home.
By bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and professions, SDU creates a community united by one common purpose: serving others.
These relationships become the foundation for future volunteer opportunities, disaster response deployments, Outdoor Adventures, and continued involvement within the Sheep Dog family.
Preparing Leaders for a Lifetime of Service
Every Sheep Dog University graduate leaves with more than information.
