Founded in 2010, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) is a national nonprofit led by military and first responder veterans committed to transforming hardship into healing. For 15 years, SDIA has empowered our nation’s heroes, our Sheep Dogs to Get Off The Couch and discover renewed purpose, connection, and posttraumatic growth (PTG) through community, service, and outdoor adventures. 

Celebrating 15 Years at Heroes Ranch  

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, SDIA proudly hosted our 15th Anniversary Celebration at Heroes Ranch near Northwest Arkansas, in Jane, MO. A joyful evening of reflection, gratitude, and community connection. 

More than just a celebration, the event marked a powerful milestone in the mission to serve those who serve. To date: 

• Over 3,800 Sheep Dogs have been sponsored in SDIA’s core programs. 
• 7,000+ Sheep Dogs have volunteered in Disaster Response Missions, assisting more than 300,000 disaster survivors. 
• Through Warrior PATHH, our innovative, peer-led mental wellness program, we’ve seen a 65% reduction in PTSD symptoms. 

That is worth celebrating.  

The evening featured hayrides, water games, s’mores, laughter, and heartfelt stories, highlighting the community spirit at the core of SDIA’s mission. We are deeply grateful to every volunteer, member, and sponsor who made this celebration possible. You are the heart of Sheep Dog Nation. 

Over the past 15 years, SDIA has expanded into a national force for good: 

• 23,724 Sheep Dogs served across all programs. 
• 253+ Outdoor Adventures hosted nationwide. 
• 3,616+ Sheep Dogs sponsored to experience life-changing Outdoor Adventures. 
• 100+ Disaster Response Missions conducted with thousands of volunteers deployed. 
• Hundreds of Warrior PATHH graduates are experiencing measurable PTG outcomes.

What Sets SDIA Apart? 

We’re run by Sheep Dogs, for Sheep Dogs. Every program is peer-led and rooted in proven Posttraumatic Growth principles. SDIA is built by those who know the journey because we walk it ourselves. 

Our approach restores purpose, camaraderie, and mental wellness for Sheep Dogs and their families, especially those struggling with transition, trauma, or disconnection. 

The Road Ahead: Our Vision for the Next 15 Years 

As we look to the future, SDIA is launching an ambitious plan to increase impact and deepen healing: 

• A fully operational Heroes Ranch with year-round on-site equine therapy, Warrior PATHH, leadership retreats, and family programming. 
• Increased Outdoor Adventures annually, reaching 1,200–1,500 Sheep Dogs per year. 
• 15–20 Warrior PATHH program courses yearly, serving up to 240 participants across multiple locations. 
• A full-time Disaster Response/Continued Service team, meeting both national and local community needs. 
• 50+ trained Ambassadors supporting regional growth and outreach. 
• An expanded SDIA University, providing training and leadership development rooted in PTG and servant leadership.
