Veterans & Military Personnel Invited to Experience Adventure, Camaraderie, and Posttraumatic Growth at SDIA Heroes Ranch

This summer, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance invites Military Personnel and Veterans of all eras of service to join us at Heroes Ranch in Jane, Missouri, for a powerful Outdoor Adventure experience designed to reconnect, recharge, and remind participants they are never alone in the journey. 

From July 6-9, 2026, participants will experience a VA-funded SDIA Outdoor Adventure packed with camaraderie, outdoor activities, and opportunities to step outside the stress of daily life and into something bigger. Whether you served decades ago or recently transitioned from service, this adventure is built around connection, purpose, and the belief that good things can happen after hard things.

At SDIA, we call it #GetOffTheCouch. 

What to Expect at Heroes Ranch

Participants will stay at SDIA Heroes Ranch while enjoying guided outdoor activities and peer-to-peer connection in the beautiful Ozarks region of Northwest Arkansas and Southwest Missouri.

Activities may include:

• Floating the Elk River
• Mountain Biking
• RZR Riding
• Equine Connection Experiences
• Campfire Conversations & Camaraderie
• Introduction to Posttraumatic Growth concepts

This Outdoor Adventure is designed to help participants unplug from isolation and reconnect with purpose, community, and healthy challenge in a supportive environment.

VA-Funded Adventure Opportunity

This Outdoor Adventure is VA-funded for eligible Military Personnel and Veterans.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to Rogers, Arkansas, and SDIA will take care of the rest during the adventure experience.

Lodging, guided activities, and programming are included.

What Is Posttraumatic Growth?

At Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, we believe struggle does not have to be the end of the story.

Outdoor Adventures often serve as the first step into SDIA’s #GetOffTheCouch Continuum of Care, helping Veterans and Military Personnel reconnect with peers, rediscover joy in healthy activities, and explore the possibility of posttraumatic growth through shared experiences and continued connection.

Sometimes healing starts with something as simple as saying “yes” to the trip.
