LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, based in Arkansas, is mobilizing to support flood recovery efforts in Texas.

The organization’s CEO and founder, Lance Nutt, explained that their teams are currently assessing the damage and awaiting a clearer picture of the disaster’s evolution before deploying more resources.

“The biggest issue they’ve had the past few days is twofold,” Nutt said.

“One, storms continued to dump quite a bit of rain on the region, so even last night, they had to evacuate volunteers and search and rescue teams off of that area just to keep them safe. And then, twofold, they almost have too many people in the area trying to assist.”

Nutt noted that the influx of well-intentioned volunteers has led to congestion, hindering recovery efforts.

He anticipates deploying a team later in the week to focus on debris removal and chainsaw work, helping the region rebuild.

Reflecting on the disaster, Nutt said, “This one really, from what we’re seeing and hearing right now, very, very similar to what we saw in western North Carolina last fall in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.”

Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, headquartered in Rogers, Arkansas, is dedicated to providing continued service opportunities for veterans and first responders.

“Our focus is giving our men and women who have worn that uniform or badge an opportunity for continued service,” Nutt said.

The organization encourages those interested in supporting their efforts to visit their website, where they can learn more, donate, or volunteer.
