We found ourselves ready as severe thunderstorms and tornadoes left a trail of destruction across the Midwest. The massive tornadoes that ripped through several communities across the region, such as Washington and Brookport, Illinois, left several communities shattered, and in desperate need of assistance.
We quickly hit the ground running to provide aid from SDIA for these communities in need. Although we will never be able to replace everything that is lost, every possible resource was pulled together by our St Louis, NWArk, and NE Oklahoma teams to help the people in these areas.
By Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning following the tornadoes, we had initial Disaster Response Teams teams headed to southern, IL. We were able to deliver two trailers worth of water, nonperishable food, tarps, blankets, and an assortment of other support items to Brookport, IL. Our three Chainsaw teams contributed greatly to the recovery process, clearing roads, driveways and homes of fallen trees and debris. Please continue to keep the people in these communities in your thoughts and prayers.
