Moore, Ok and St. Louis Disaster Relief Missions

Jason-2This Spring brought with it several wild tornado outbreaks. Moore and central Oklahoma took the brunt of this seasons storms, with other communities like St. Louis, MO receiving extensive damage as well.
In Moore, OK a giant tornado, a mile wide or more, tore through the Oklahoma City suburb, flattening homes and destroying lives. At least 23 people were killed because of this storm. SDIA had teams on the ground in Moore within 24 hours of the the tornado touching down.
Three Sheep Dog Chapters & Teams sent personnel and supplies into the community of Moore. Deploying over a 10 day period, SDIA delivered the equivalent of five pallets of bottled water, four pallets of non-perishable food items, more than 200 tarps and rolls of plastic sheeting, along with multiple other support materials, including blankets and clothes.
groupAlong with the material support, we also deployed multiple teams with chainsaw assets. As always, our chainsaw teams have the largest visible impact, clearing debris and opening roadways for the rebuilding process to begin in earnest.
While SDIA members & volunteers were serving in Oklahoma, our St Louis Chapter and its supporters were deploying within the greater St Louis region. Just a few days after the Moore, OK tornado, St. Louis was hit by multiple smaller tornadoes and strong storms. As always, Sheep Dogs answered to call to serve, having a positive impact on the on the lives of those they were able to assist.

Between these two storms, more than 80 Sheep Dog members & volunteers answered the call to serve during four different missions and 12 days of service in the Moore, OK and St. Louis communities. Sheep Dogs understand the need for continued service, it is who and what they are, serving their Nation and their communities in a time of need is what defines them. Thank you to everyone who served, and to everyone who supported our efforts, we could not do it without you!
