SDIA’s Patriot Day Events – Huge Successes!

This year’s Patriot Day events were held at various Chapters across the US, including Bentonville AR, Little Rock AR, St. Louis MO, and Houston TX. All events had great attendance and raised significant donations to increase the reach of our holiday Sheep Dog in Need programs. Through our Thanksgiving Meals program, we provide identified Sheep Dog families in need with a full Thanksgiving dinner, including a turkey, ham, sides like green beans, corn, stuffing, and pies! With our Christmas Outreach program, we adopt the children of Sheep Dog families in need and provide them with a sack full of toys, clothes and other gifts.
The National Office/NWA Chapter hosted their 4th annual Patriot Day on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014. Lance Nutt, SDIA president and founder, said, “Another successful Patriot Day is in the books! Each year we find a way to make the event bigger and better, and this year’s Patriot Day was all of the above and then some. What truly helped make this a special Patriot Day event was the new location at the Bentonville Municipal Airport – it was the perfect spot for adding aviation assets to the event, including an Airplane Poker Run and aircraft.” Approximately 3,000 supporters attended the event, and nearly $12,000 was raised!
Special THANKS goes out to our many volunteers, supporters, military personnel, first responders, and sponsors that made this year’s Patriot Day event possible. Thank You for your continued support!

The Central Arkansas Chapter held their Patriot Day event at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, AR, on Sat., Sept. 6. In addition to first responder vehicles & personnel, and rescue demonstrations on site, they hosted the “Patriots and Pinstripes” car show which showcased many custom street rods and antique cars.

The St. Louis Chapter held a CrossFit competition with 18 teams vying for first place. The workouts were grueling and competition fierce, but in the end, they raised nearly $1,000 to help with their holiday Sheep Dog in Need programs. Many thanks to the volunteers and committee who made it happen: Josh & Stacy Hildebrand, Jordan Hildebrand, Gabriel Kern, Paul Anderson, Tim Hart, Rachael Kroetz, Michael Rudden, and Rochelle Elliott.
Photos from the competition can be seen on the SDIA St. Louis Chapter’s Facebook page.
In Houston, our Lone Star Chapter also threw down a CrossFit challenge. This was their first event, and it was well attended with teams competing for a chance to stand on the podium. All proceeds will go towards the Chapter’s Thanksgiving Meals and Christmas Outreach programs.
