A Very Successful 2012 Thanksgiving Outreach
This years Thanksgiving program was very successful. We were able to feed more than 300 Sheep Dogs and their family members. We cannot say Thank You enough to our supporters and volunteers for making this years outreach the best yet. Our ability to assist fellow Sheep Dogs and their families in need is the key to our overall mission.
Most of the families we helped this year are struggling to make ends meet during the holidays, others dealing with family challenges that make this time of year all the more difficult. We take great pride in our ability to assist our own during trying times, and look forward to doing even more in the future.
Disaster Response Missions
As became evident during September 11th, 2001, and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, our federal & local governments and relief organizations are not always equipped or prepared for such unexpected and widespread devastation.
Sheep Dog’s aim is to bypass the slow-moving bureaucracy and red tape of larger organizations. Instead, its strength lies in small, localized, independent chapters made up of those already trained and ready to help: your community’s current and former military, emergency and law enforcement personnel.
Christmas Outreach
<style=”text-left: center;”>Christmas Outreach is our annual program to adopt the children of any military, law enforcement, fire & rescue or EMS family that needs assistance during the holiday season. Our goal this year is to build on previous years’ successes by providing 70 children with Christmas toys and clothing.
Our greatest need is identifying Sheep Dog families with children that need our assistance. If you know of a worthy Sheep Dog family, please contact us as soon as possible. Each child adopted will receive three toys from their “Santa wish list”, clothing, shoes and other miscellaneous items to brighten the child’s Christmas!
Thanksgiving Outreach
Project Giving is our annual Thanksgiving program to provide meals to military, law enforcement, fire & rescue or EMS families needing assistance during the holiday season. Our goal this year is to increase the number of families we can support, providing 45 families with a traditional family Thanksgiving meal.
Our greatest challenge is identifying Sheep Dog families that need our assistance. If you know of a worthy Sheep Dog family, please contact us as soon as possible. Families will receive a whole Turkey, Ham and all the trimmings, including 2 pies, corn, green beans, stuffing, potatoes, and much more!
SDIA Crystal Coast Team Assists with Hurricane Sandy Recovery
Members from our Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) Crystal Coast, NC Chapter, along with firefighters from the Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department loaded up this past Friday, Nov 2nd, and headed north to assist with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
So far they have collected and distributed multiple supplies of non-perishable food, water, blankets and clothing to individuals and families in need across three states affected by Hurricane Sandy. Sheep Dog M.A.T. Kids and “BullyProofing”
Three million children miss school each month in the United States because they are afraid of being bullied. On Sunday September 30th, students and instructors from the Rogers, Arkansas Sheep Dog M.A.T. Kids program traveled to Edmond, OK to meet and train with the creator of the Gracie Bullyproofing program, Rener Gracie. He was there for a few days teaching kids on how to better “bullyproof” themselves. “It’s a program that teaches kids physical and verbal self-defense techniques, so they don’t necessarily have to get into fights,” said Gracie…
