Sheep Dog IA Launches National Membership Program
Sheep Dog IA Launches National Membership Program We are excited to announce the launch of our new National Membership program. We have a growing base of supporters across the country, and many of them have expressed an interest in becoming a member and/or opening a Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) chapter in their community. The first step in expanding our Chapter Program further is to open our membership to interested persons across the country. At last week’s SDIA expansion meeting we discussed our ongoing efforts to expand SDIA on a national level, i.e. growing membership and expanding chapters. With the current level of interest, we felt it was the right time to complete our membership program and open it nationally. On the home page of our website you will now find a link that explains the different membership options, Volunteer, Reserve Member, and Active Member. Each option comes with a basic list of benefits and expectations. Any person can be...
SHOT Show 2012
SHOT Show 2012 This was our second year in a row to attend SHOT, and we come away from each show amazed at how well we are received by all in attendance. The SHOT Show is a perfect melting pot of Sheep Dog’s and their supporters from every spectrum of the business community. As you can imagine, it is the perfect venue to share the Sheep Dog IA story and our continued efforts to support fellow Sheep Dogs in need. There were some amazing new products and ideas, but a few companies, products and organizational efforts stood apart from the rest. Below are a few of our favorites. We encourage you to learn more by visiting the links provided. We hope you enjoy these as much as we did. One of our favorites is the NRA’s Life of Duty. John Pope of Cerberus Security Group
We are always looking for those unique and highly motivated Sheep Dogs scattered throughout our communities, those men and women going the extra mile to make a difference. John Pope of Cerberus Security Group is that type of man, and fellow Sheep Dog. John, a former Marine and soldier, has proudly served his country for many years. Following his final tour in Iraq, John made the decision to transition into a civilian career. The challenge for so many current and former Sheep Dogs is what to do, and how to successfully make the transition from a service career into “everyday” civilian life. Fortunately for John, he found a way to make that transition by following his heart and passion. Through many of John’s challenges in the military, he had developed a great fondness for working dogs. That fondness ultimately led John to follow his passion into starting Cerberus Security Group (CSG) in 2007. Four years later, John has transformed...
Navy SEAL – Chris Kyle
Meet Navy SEAL Chris Kyle… the deadliest sniper in US history, with 255 kills. For some of you this article might be hard to read…too many people struggle with violence and the ability to see the need for it. Unfortunately, for our country’s Sheep Dogs, violence is sometimes a necessity. Killing or doing harm to others in an attempt to save a fellow Sheep Dogs life, or in defense of our country and its peoples way of life, violence is sometimes the only option. Hopefully in reading this article you will see the lives Chris Kyle was able to save, versus the lives he had to take. There are people out there that would love an opportunity to kill you and your family if given the chance, Sheep Dogs like Chris serve everyday in an effort to protect you and yours from those people. Never forget! Contributed by the Daily News & Michael Zennie Chris Kyle hesitated the first time he killed a...
Christmas Outreach 2011 A Great Success!
This years Christmas Outreach was a great success…we were able to provide gifts to more than 87 children of Sheep Dog families in need. We are still in awe at the volunteers and families that stepped-up to either adopt a child and family, or helped us locate and deliver toys and clothes to the children of Sheep Dog families. We are blessed every day with the sacrifices of our nations Sheep Dogs (our military, law enforcement, fire & rescue and EMS personnel), and we feel privileged to be able to assist these families during such a special time of year. We finished the last of our deliveries Christmas eve…nothing feels better than to know that you are making a difference in the lives of so many deserving families and their children. We ask that you please keep our efforts in mind throughout the coming year, as we will need your help next year in identifying Sheep Dog families that might need a...
Christmas Outreach 2011
Adopt a Sheep Dog child this Christmas! Christmas Outreach is the theme of this year’s Christmas effort to adopt the children of any military, law enforcement, fire & rescue or EMS family that needs assistance this holiday season. Our goal this year is to double the number of children we can provide Christmas toys and clothing to…targeting 60 plus children. The greatest need at this point is identifying Sheep Dog families with children that actually need our assistance. If you know of a worthy Sheep Dog family, please let us know as soon as possible. The children of the family in need will receive three toys from their “wish list”, clothing, shoes and miscellaneous items to brighten each child’s Christmas! If you are interested in sponsoring a Sheep Dog child, a $150 donation will cover the majority of the items on each child’s list and Sheep Dog IA will ensure all other items are covered. Or you can ask for one or...

This years Annual NWA Turkey Trot exceeded ALL expectations! The Turkey Trot Charity Run & Fun Walk followed a very successful Thanksgiving Program that provided Thanksgiving meals to Sheep Dog families in need…military, law enforcement, fire & rescue and EMS personnel struggling through the holidays. We helped more than 40 families. The Turkey Trot is a major fund raiser for our Christmas Outreach program in which we adopt Sheep Dog families with children for Christmas, providing each child with 3 toys from their Christmas wish list, clothes, shoes, etc… Doing our best to ensure that they have a wonderful Christmas. This years Turkey Trot raised more than $6,000.00, ensuring that we will more than double the number of children we can...
